In the immediate surroundings, you can enjoy various restaurants, a supermarket, several Dutch resorts, Fort Beekenburg, Caracasbaai Beach, the famous Tugboat (an ideal spot for snorkeling) and the Jan Thiel salt pans, where flamingos often appear. In the evenings, Zanzibar offers live music right on the beach.
