BEHAVIOR

Our guests are respectful and considerate of other guests and handle our property with care. We reserve the right to refuse you access to Casa Amalia or to evict you, without refund: - if you are under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other intoxicating substance, - if you are rude or disrespectful to our staff or other guests, - if you disturb the peace of other guests, - if you attempt to use our property for an illegal purpose or if you attempt to destroy or damage it, - if you exceed the maximum permitted room occupancy of 2 people.

SMOKING 🚭

Casa Amalia is a guesthouse specifically designed for non-smokers. Since smokers also love to come to us, we have placed ashtrays outside our entrance. Smoking is NOT permitted inside our accommodations or in the courtyard. This also applies to e-cigarettes. If you do choose to smoke inside an accommodation, we reserve the right to charge you a €250 fine or evict you.

DRUGS

The use of narcotics is illegal in Curaçao. If you use drugs on our property or we find drugs in your accommodation, we will notify the police.

ELECTRICITY

Electricity in Curaçao is 110 volts, 50 Hz. Occasionally, we experience power outages in some neighborhoods, and sometimes across the island. Fortunately, this doesn't happen every day.

AIR CONDITIONERS
Air conditioners impact the climate because they consume a lot of electricity and also contain refrigerant. This refrigerant has a significant impact on the climate.

Please be climate-friendly: turn off the air conditioning when you're not at home, and if you do have the air conditioning on, make sure all shutters and doors are closed.

MINIMUM AGE

We welcome guests aged 12 and over.

PETS
Pets are not allowed in our property.

CHECK-IN

You can check yourself in with us according to the instructions given. Check-in is possible from 3:00 PM.

CHECK-OUT

Check-out is no later than 10:00 in the morning.

At check-out, you must leave all towels at the property. This also applies to the blue towels.

LATE CHECK-OUT

Guests with a late return flight can contact us one day before departure to discuss the possibility of a late check-out. Unfortunately, a late check-out is not always possible.

A late check-out allows you to check out until 6 p.m. You pay €50 for a late check-out. You must pay the late check-out fee to us 1 day before check-out.

If you want to check out later than 6 PM, you'll have to pay for an additional night. Our rates are listed on our website.

CLEANING🧹

Cleaning is offered once a week. If you would like clean towels, you can exchange used ones with us on weekday mornings.

PESTS 🪳🐜🐭

Ants and cockroaches love bread, sugar, and various other foods. Don't leave these open. Close them tightly or store them in the refrigerator. Regularly dispose of your trash in the green bins located in the parking lot. This minimizes the risk of pests in your accommodation! You can get new garbage bags from us if needed. In the tropics, it's crucial to dispose of your trash regularly and clean everything immediately, otherwise you'll quickly find ants and cockroaches in your accommodation. Waste isn't separated in Curaçao; everything goes in the same container.

TAP WATER 🚰
Tap water in Curaçao is distilled from seawater. It is completely safe to drink and meets the highest quality standards of the World Health Organization.

OUR FACILITIES

Our facilities are exclusively for our guests. Visitors are not permitted to use them.

POOL

We have a dip pool. Use of the dip pool is exclusively for our guests and entirely at your own risk. Our dip pool is 1 meter deep, so diving is not permitted.

Our pool is cleaned twice a week by a pool cleaning company. We kindly ask for your cooperation so they can do their job.

Women are not allowed to be topless in any part of the pool. In our culture, toplessness is considered vulgar.

Don't use glass or wine glasses in or around the pool. Keep it safe for yourself and others! You can use the plastic cups if you want to drink something at the pool.

We have a limited number of lounge chairs by the pool, so there are never too many people around. There's plenty of seating in the pool for our guests to enjoy a chat. If a lounger is unoccupied, it's available for anyone who wants to sit on it. Towels left on unoccupied loungers will be removed and hung on the clothesline.

TOWELS

Bedrooms come with 2 large white towels, 1 small white towel, 1 white mat, and 2 large blue towels. Double-queen rooms come with 4 large white towels, 2 small white towels, 1 white mat, and 4 large blue towels.

The white towels are for use in the bathroom, and the blue towels are for use at the pool. The existing towels are replaced during cleaning. 👉You must bring your own towels/beach towels for the beach.

When checking out, you must leave all towels in the accommodation. This also applies to the blue towels. If you lose our towels, we will charge the following fees: large white towel €15, small white towel €10, white mat €15, and large blue towel €20.

WET CLOTHES

We have a long clothesline behind the apartment building where our guests can hang their wet clothes to dry.

With our tropical sun, clothes dry within 15 minutes. Leaving them on the line for too long increases the risk of bird droppings.

Please don't hang towels or clothes on the balcony or from the lamps. Use the clothesline.

LAUNDRY FACILITIES

We do not have guest laundry facilities, but you will find MR. Laundry on the main road.

EXTRA BED

We do not have extra beds. All our accommodations have one double bed, so a maximum of 2 people per accommodation.

DEET

We kindly ask that you do not spray DEET while in your room/apartment. DEET is a strong poison that, if it gets on furniture, will bleach its color. Furthermore, DEET that gets on the floor creates a significant slipping hazard. Please do not place the DEET bottle on the furniture either.

Use the Deet when you are in the parking lot and you can leave your Deet in the car so you always have it close by.

PARKING

You can use our open parking lot for free, but it's entirely at your own risk. We are not responsible for your car. It's wise to take out comprehensive insurance when renting a car.

WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE

We are not responsible for lost items or items you leave behind after checking out. When checking out, please check your locker, all drawers, and cabinets thoroughly. Items left behind will not be shipped.

TRAVELERS WITH PHYSICAL CHALLENGES

Casa Amalia is located above street level, and unfortunately, our facilities are not designed to accommodate guests with special needs. Casa Amalia is only accessible via a staircase with at least 18 steps.

SECURITY CAMERAS 🎥

We have installed Wi-Fi security cameras for security purposes. We do NOT have cameras in the accommodations. Our guests have complete privacy in their room or apartment.

LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

In Curaçao, we speak Papiamentu, but many people also speak some Dutch (not everyone). Our culture is not Dutch, so keep in mind that your normal is not our normal (and vice versa).

OUR ROOMS ARE NOISY🔇

Casa Amalia is located in a residential area with several neighbors around our property. Some guests are on vacation to enjoy the island, while others want to relax. Please be considerate of other guests and neighbors living around us. Use your AirPods to listen to your favorite music.
