Rent a car 🚗
A car is essential in Curaçao!
To fully explore the island, you really need one.
There are many car rental companies, but we recommend GH Car Rental. They are reliable and offer well-maintained vehicles, all equipped with air conditioning for your comfort.
📞 Contact: 5999 465 8384 / 5999 461 8384
Make sure you arrange your rental car in advance!
Tip: Always take out fully comprehensive insurance, regardless of your own insurance. This gives you the best protection during your stay.
Good to know: The KIA Picanto and KIA Rio are the most stolen cars on the island, so be aware of this.
For navigation, we recommend the Maps.me app, a reliable offline navigation app that works perfectly in Curaçao.

Travel light 🧳List Item 2
Curaçao is a sunny island with a warm, tropical climate. The average daily temperature is around 32 degrees Celsius. During the day, light, comfortable clothing is best: think shorts, a cotton T-shirt, flip-flops, and a hat to protect you from the sun. In the evening, you can easily wear a nice pair of jeans with a cotton or linen shirt or vest, paired with flip-flops or sneakers. For women, cotton or linen dresses with sandals are also perfect. For formal events, you can, of course, bring something more formal, but otherwise, you won't need much. Tip: Personal hygiene is especially important in the tropical climate. Therefore, use a good deodorant and perfume to feel fresh throughout the day.

Electricity in Curacao🔌
In Curaçao, the electricity supply is 110 volts with a frequency of 50 Hz.
All our electrical outlets are designed for this.
Forgot to bring a travel adapter for your 220 volt electronics? No problem! You can easily buy one at the nearby Van der Tweel supermarket.
Power outages can sometimes occur, both in certain neighborhoods and occasionally across the island. Fortunately, these interruptions are not a daily occurrence.

Jan Thiel Beach 🏊♂️
Jan Thiel Beach is one of Curaçao's most popular beaches and is located just 1 kilometer from us, less than a 2-minute drive or about a 20-minute walk. Here you can enjoy the sun, sea, and sand while sipping a refreshing cocktail and savoring delicious food. For the more active visitor, there are plenty of water sports, beach tennis, diving, and sailing. In the evenings, the beach comes alive: Saturdays, in particular, are the place to be. With live music, barefoot dancing in the sand, palm trees, and a starry sky, you'll experience an unforgettable evening.
Please note: Jan Thiel Beach is a private beach, and there's an entrance fee for swimming. After 5:00 PM, admission is free.

Salt pans of Jan Thiel🦩
The Jan Thiel Salt Pans are a historic salt pan area that was in use until 1975. Today, it's a stunning nature reserve, popular with hikers and nature photographers. The pink salt lakes and the chance to spot flamingos make this area unique. We recommend visiting the salt pans early in the morning, when it's cooler and calmer, for the best experience.
Don't forget to bring sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water; the sun can be intense, and there's little shade.

Euros are difficult to exchange 💶
Please note that the Caribbean Guilder is the official currency of Curaçao. You can also pay with dollars, but not with euros. You can exchange a maximum of €250 per day at some banks, and you must show your passport and ticket at the bank. You can withdraw Caribbean Guilders from ATMs, but don't forget to set your debit card to "World" before you travel. Remember that you pay a fee every time you withdraw money from an ATM, so don't always take small amounts.

Tug boat
A tugboat once sank close to the coast between Caracas Bay Beach and Director's Bay and has remained submerged ever since. Over time, coral has grown on the boat, and it is now one of Curaçao's most famous underwater gems. The boat lies only 5 meters below the surface and is easily visible by snorkeling.

How it all beganBetween 2007 and 2009, many Venezuelan tourists visited Curaçao, causing available hotel accommodations to become overcrowded. In response, Haitham envisioned an alternative: a small, homey, intimate, comfortable, yet affordable place near the beach where his Venezuelan friends could stay and feel right at home. This vision became a reality in Casa Amalia, named after the Venezuelan actress Amalia Pérez Díaz. Later, a Dutch tour operator discovered Casa Amalia and saw its potential. They were excited to offer it to their clients. Today, Casa Amalia is a popular accommodation for many Dutch tourists.
